We have a large fully equipped kitchen area
A variety of groceries is available just down the street

And large common area
to accommodate both a large group or several smaller groups that are sharing the hostel but want some space to kick back and relax perhaps to talk about the next days activities.
Bird watchers and artists are nicely located anytime of the year but particularly during the migration times where, after a day of shooting pictures with your digital camera you can easily compare notes and show off your best shots with the group using our BenQ projector. With great scuba diving at our doorstep it is a natural place for experinced or new trainees where their final class could be held here, then it's out to the harbour for their Open Water test. This room could also be used for Yoga or meditation groups who want to hold a retreat in a quiet setting where members could do group work in the class room then head out to commune with nature. Having a kitchen makes it handy for groups that may have specific dietary needs, such as vegetarian, as you can cook your own meals that are not usually available in restaurants.
There is the Seascape Restaurant within walking distance if you prefer not to cook and several restaurants in Liverpool only a few minutes drive from us. Seascape is also a grocery and liquor store.


We are a quiet rural hostel located half way between Halifax and Yarmouth and are just 20 Km from Liverpool and only 5 Km from Carters beach. Rated as some of the best beaches in Nova Scotia. Backpackers can get here by bus however most of our guests find having a car is best for touring in a rural area.

Carters beach is three crescent shaped beaches in a row and in this sky view you can see the tropical look of our waters.

For those interested in Geocaching the two visible points hide treasures.
With these clear waters and 31 shipwrecks scuba divers will be in their glory.
While many are too old to be worth diving on the most recent wreck is the Matthew Atlantic sunk in 1998 for an artificial reef.

Our beaches are made of very fine soft white sand.

drop in to the Quarterdeck for some great food. Quarterdeck Grill

Surfing at Westernhead   or White Point 

Of coarse all this great coastline means great sailing kayaking, canoeing and of coarse sport fishing

Port Joli is just down the road from us and has the Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct and the Port Joli Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary. Just past that is the Port L'Hebert Pocket Wilderness looking out over the Port L'Herbert Migratory Bird Sanctuary .The Thomas Raddall Provincial Park is also in the area.

There is also plenty of great hiking away from the shore, where the sea air mixes with the aroma of Balsam as
you head farther inland to follow the many trails that lead to secluded lakes and rivers.
Kejimkujik National Park has many options from hikes that take a couple hours to trails that take several days to complete. There are many kilometers of rivers and lakes for those who prefer the water and there are outfitters at the park where you can rent your canoes, kayaks and other equipment. For less rugged vacations there is also Summerville Beach Provincial Park known for its expansive white sand beaches and a Rails to Trails path which goes from Summerville Centre to Liverpool. These trails are where the old railway lines use to run from Halifax to Yarmouth until 1984, perhaps the name "Hellish Slow and Wobbely" gives a clue as to why it was discontinued. The trail passes through Hunts Point and White Point.
